July is part of the dry season in the Peruvian Andes.
Nights can be quite cold, while daytime temperatures are often warm and sunny.
We recommend packing warm clothing for the evenings and early mornings, as well as sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat to protect yourself from the strong high-altitude sun.
As Machu Picchu is one of Peru’s most popular destinations, entrance tickets often sell out well in advance. If you are unable to secure a ticket before your trip, one alternative is to arrive in Aguas Calientes at least two days before your planned visit. This gives you the opportunity to purchase available last-minute tickets in person, subject to availability.
